Senior Ruby on Rails Software Engineer

Location: 100% remote
Working time: 75% - 100%, flexible hours

Responsibilities of a software engineer at aktien.guide include:

  • Implementing new and expanding existing customer facing features and backend features with use of background processing - all to develop professional investment tools for private investors
  • Applying design and UX changes or implementing modern design and UX for newly built features based on mockups prepared by a designer
  • Developing bug fixes, maintaining existing code, keeping the dependencies up-to-date and writing unit tests for any new features or changes
  • Working very closely with the Product Owner and actively participating in building our product

We are looking for a person who:

  • Has experience of at least 4 years as a full stack web developer and is comfortable and fluent with both Ruby and Ruby on Rails
  • Has good knowledge of CSS, Bootstrap 5, JavaScript and modern Ruby on Rails technologies (e.g. Turbo, Stimulus, Propshaft, ViewComponent)
  • Has hands-on experience with background processing (Sidekiq), MySQL and has advanced knowledge of how to deal with it efficiently
  • Is confident with tackling topics like: server infrastructure, software architecture design, technical preparation and planning based on product requirements
  • Is able to research and assess different technical topics to make decisions together with the rest of the engineering team
  • Knows when and how to react to application errors or other issues that appear in the live environment
  • Wants to work in a small engineering team and participate in building the team and growing our product
  • Has a very good command of written and spoken English (B2+)
  • Is positive, communicative, responsible, can work both independently and in a team
